We combine the methods of Western medicine, modern therapeutic equipment included, with those of Eastern medicine. Bringing in diagnostic and treatment methods from Chinese medicine (the clinic has a strong acupuncture practice) is what sets us apart from every other facility of a similar profile.
Rehabilitation centres normally follow either the European or the Eastern approach. Those that follow the Eastern one run into problems with licensing and with meeting Ministry of Health requirements. Those that follow the European one limit their own diagnostic and treatment options.
People want treatment that works and that goes beyond the standard, while still resting on scientific ground and staying within licensing requirements. That is exactly what our clinic offers.
Rehabilitation centres and clinics are not usually equipped with diagnostic apparatus. We have it: an electromyograph, ultrasound and an electroencephalograph. That lets us not only confirm and objectify a pathology, but also track objective changes over time.
On top of that, we have specific examination protocols for muscles, fascia, joints and nerves that no other diagnostic centre offers.

MARKOV Rehab Clinic is a clinical base of the Department of General Surgery, Anaesthesiology and Palliative Medicine at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. With our diagnostic capability and a large number of patients, we carry out research into disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and into the links between pain syndromes and internal organ pathology. Many other research programmes also run at the clinic.
The clinic hosts training in the fundamentals of Chinese medicine, acupuncture, reflexology and modern needling techniques. The courses are run by the Department of General Surgery, Anaesthesiology and Palliative Medicine at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. The head of the clinic is also the founder of the Acuschool school of Chinese medicine and gives seminars in Kyiv.
Military personnel and veterans can have 50 to 100% of the cost of treatment reimbursed, and our partners help us make that possible. We have also developed organisational recovery protocols for soldiers holding positions at the front, so that during rotation they can receive rehabilitation care even when their rest period is only one or two days.
One of the core treatment methods at the clinic. Acupuncture (reflexotherapy) is a method based on the canons of Chinese medicine, it has an evidence base and works strongly on pain syndromes, mental state and the regulatory system, which makes it a key method for treating autonomic disorders.
An important method of stimulating muscle function. Used in cases of impaired neuromuscular conduction caused by certain diseases, injuries or wounds.
A device-assisted treatment using infrared heat. Can be used on its own or combined with other methods, it pairs very well with acupuncture, cupping therapy and other procedures.
Another method from Chinese medicine. It relieves congestion well, has a positive effect on tissue trophism and fits into any overall treatment plan.
A device-assisted method of spinal traction aimed at restoring the muscular and ligamentous apparatus of the spine and releasing joint blocks. It also pumps the intervertebral discs, which has a positive effect on their condition.
A service that combines several methods of physical and movement therapy within one session, at the physical therapist's discretion. These may include resistance exercises, gait training on an obstacle treadmill, work on the MTB cable trainer, and manual techniques such as osteopathic ones may be added here as well.
A standard service for a patient's first visit. It allows the problem to be identified and a treatment strategy to be formed.
A device-assisted method of working with the lymphatic system: restoring lymph drainage, improving microcirculation and tissue trophism. Indicated in all cases of lymphostasis and for impaired tissue trophism resulting from illness, injury or wounds.
A standard, widely known procedure. A supplementary recovery method available on request. It has a general positive effect but cannot restore specific functions. The clinic does not place emphasis on this service.
An ancient scraping massage technique. Used to relieve pain syndromes, restore tissue microcirculation and treat scar contractures.
The clinic has two psychotherapy specialists: a psychiatrist and a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst. We therefore provide psychotherapeutic care in different formats, from counselling and assessment to deep systemic psychoanalysis, depending on the patient's request. Servicemen receive counselling as a mandatory step and may then continue in a therapy format on request.
Restoration of hand function using a special device with a glove that assists the movement of the patient's fingers. The device is designed to restore fine motor skills of the hand after wounds, injuries and strokes.
A method of restoring motor function and relieving pain syndromes using the Redcord suspension system. The suspension system makes it possible to unload the patient against gravity, activate myofascial chains and set the movement vector of an isolated muscle that needs to be worked on.
A supplementary service that uses various approaches to physical work on tissues, chosen by the physical therapist, to relieve pain, relax tissues, release blocks and improve movement. The service may include osteopathic, chiropractic, joint and other techniques.
An important supplementary therapy method using medical tapes, a special elastic strip applied to the skin. Taping can consolidate the results of physical therapy, provide lymphatic drainage, support muscle function and serve many other purposes.
A device-assisted treatment, widely known among the general public, whose advantage is the depth to which the massage wave penetrates, allowing work on problems in deep-lying muscles and ligaments.
